BuJo August Setup: Journaling to Boost my Productivity

Do you Bullet Journal (BuJo) or journal in general, babes?

This past Sunday was all about self care & I even got ahead on setting up my BuJo for August. BuJo's are great for accountability, stress, planning & more!

If you have never used a BuJo or are curious about how to start one read this. In the Ultimate Guide to Bullet Journaling, I provide an overview of what a BuJo is and how you can get started with one right now!

Materials used for this month's set up:

Gratitude

LOVE this page. It's so easy to forget what we are thankful for or used to so desperately want when we didn't have it. I like to keep a list of what I am most grateful for. This isn't just for the month, but for the year overall.

Content Ideas

As a creative, I'm always coming up with new ideas. They seem unforgettable and mind blowing amazing in the moment, but sure enough, I forget them all eventually. Writing them all down in one central place will be great. I prefer this over typing up my ideas online because I will have a permanent record that never gets deleted. If it were online I'd erase the ideas once they are completed. Again, this process is great for those who want to reflect on their ideas!

Mood Tracker

It's great to always be aware of how you're feeling. The next step is to figure out why and how to be in control. I like tracking my mood and intentionally checking in with myself to see how I feel. This is also usually a pretty component of my BuJo meaning I usually design a cute layout for it.

Debt Tracker/Expense Tracker

Nope, these are not the same thing. I grouped these together because they both focus on tracking finances. Personally, I only have a debt tracker and a cost of living section. The debt tracker has a chart that lists out my bills for each month and a graph that charts my progress. I love having both because I'm able to use the numbers to analyze my progress, but also the graph for a quick visual reference.

Goals

This is another section of my BuJo that is really for the entire year rather than being month by month. I like to have a record of my progress in one place. Also, this is the easiest way to brain dump my goals.

Manifest

Recently, I have started 'scripting' or writing future posts. It's a fun practice and I cannot wait to reflect on what I've written.

If you're interested in hearing more about my manifestation journey and what I'm doing, please let me know!

Mantra

Since February, I have been using the same mantra "Money flows to Brielle effortlessly". I even posted it regularly on my IG stories as a reminder for my followers because they voted that "more money" and "better moods" would greatly enhance their lives. Anyways, this mantra has definitely manifested! I'm going to still keep in my BuJo this month, but I'm definitely ready to adopt a new one as well.

What mantras or affirmations do you love? Give me some ideas!

Daily to Do

I go back and forth between using my BuJo, a typed document, or Google Keeps for my daily to-do lists. I think writing this list each day in my BuJo would be SO much better because I will be able to reflect on my progress.

3 lines a days

LOVE this! It's been a super easy and stress free way to effectively and consistently journal each day. Basically, I am required to write no more than 3 sentences. It takes away the pressure of trying to capture everything about my day but keeps me consistent because there is no reason I can't make time for 3 sentences. Honestly, I usually end up writing way more! This practice FEELS AMAZING!

Highlights

Anything that excites me or makes me happy gets written down and dated.  It could be something huge like a new business client or as small as getting a special treat that day. This is also a component that is for the entire year rather than being done month by month.

Workout Log

I like to draw a calendar for the month and then record my workouts in each box. This is also a good place to write my overall workout plan and any meal prep ideas too.

There are so many possibilities of what you can include in your BuJo. Each month I try new components or remove old ones. It's all about making the BuJo meet your needs.

What components of my BuJo would you use in yours? What would you change? Let me know!
