Oils for Your Hair
Do you know the benefits of using oils on your hair?
Oils provide your hair with tons of nutrients and vitamins. I find that different oils work great for different purposes. Some oils I only use on my hair depending on if it's straight or curly. I've also heard of some people switching the oils they use depending on the seasons.
Below is a list of healthy oils for your hair.
You can check out my favorite oils by clicking here.
Castor oil
Castor oil is really thick! Many people use it for their hair to promote healthy hair growth. I've even heard of many people using it on their lashes too!
Personally, I like to add Castor oil to shampoos and conditioners. I add oils to shampoo because otherwise shampoo can be extremely stripping towards my hair. Oil in conditioners is great because it adds to the moisturizing ability of the conditioner.
Coconut oil
I love coconut oil. It's super moisturizing and doesn't feel too heavy on my hair. It's included as one of my favorite oils
Grapeseed oil
Grapeseed oil is moisturizing and great because it's lightweight. I typically use lightweight oils on my straight hair and heavier oils on my naturally curly hair.
Try mixing grapeseed oil into your deep conditioner or applying after a steamy hot shower!
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is also one of my favorite oils for my hair. It's thick but not super heavy. EVOO is also really great for moisture.
Avocado oil
Avocado oil is not an oil I use often, but it's great for your hair. I'd recommend using it if your hair is dry, brittle and in need of nourishment.
Avocado oil provides many nutrients like vitamins A, B, D, E, protein, amino acids, iron, copper, and more!
Jojoba oil
Jojoba oil is probably my all-time favorite! This oil is super lightweight but also incredibly moisturizing. Read more in the blog post, "Favorite Oils for Your Hair".
Argan Oil
Argan Oil originates in Morrocco and comes from the Argan tree.
I mostly use this oil on straight hair, but it's slightly thicker than Jojoba oil and would also work well on naturally curly hair too! It really keeps your hair well moisturized.
Do you use any of these oils? If so how do you use them?
I love to add oils to my other hair care products and many of these oils double as other body care items!
