Self Care Wax Routine: Details on What I Get Waxed, How Often and Why I Prefer Waxing Instead of Shaving
Looking for a hair removal method that is safe, healthy, and effective?
Waxing is all that and moreee for me.
I love my waxes and will not be going back to shaving, babes.
Getting waxed its so much healthier for my skin and the results look way better!
With waxing, my skin is smooth, silky, and sexy (not to mention waxing lasts for so long!).
Before I tried waxing, I used to shave my legs every other day to try and keep up with the hair growth!
Sometimes I even shaved daily.
It was so inconvenient and my skin hated it.
Now I effortlessly visit my wax center. The process is so quick!
Waxing a must-do for me and one of my FAVORITE self-care routines.
Details of where I go are included below.
They have locations throughout the USA!
Ready for the Well with Brielle self care wax routine (and all the details)?
Babes! I’ve been getting Brazillian waxes for years now (since 2015).
Recently I waxed something new for the very first time!
I got my underarms waxed too.
I occasionally get my inner thighs and belly done, but never anything else besides the Brazillian.
Today I got the following done:
belly // stomach strip
inner thighs
armpits (underarms)
Brazilian (that means your private parts both the front and back! loveee!)
The only thing missing is my legs and I would have got those done too, but unfortunately, my leg hair was not long enough.
Weird problems to have, right?
Keep reading for more FAQs about waxing.
What about pain?
Does waxing hurt?
I have the lowest tolerance for pains, babes!
That’s why it’s so important that I take care of my skin by following a wax routine.
My wax routine supports my waxing process and experience.
Usually, I do not experience any pain during my waxes.
I’ve been getting them for so long and keeping my self care wax routine has helped.
Occasionally I do feel some pain during my waxes, but it’s rare.
I’d describe the pain that I have felt as a slight stinging sensation depending on the area, but everyone is different.
If it’s your first time getting waxed or first few times then it will hurt some, but it’s not bad at all.
I’ve included a few tips and tricks below that always help make the process a better experience for me.
Why wax
What are the benefits of waxing?
Drastically reduces the chances of ingrown hair
Reveals beautiful and smooth skin
Lasts for weeks at a time
Low maintenence
Professionals get the job done
No mess
Is it better to shave or wax?
Why NOT Shaving
Almost always results in ingrown hairs especially if you have curly, textured hair
Time-consuming and can be messy
Must be done multiple times a week or month
Razors aren’t great for mother earth
It’s easier to cut or hurt yourself
You have to do it yourself rather than relaxing and having it done
The Well with Brielle Self Care Wax Routine
What to do before and after waxing. What to use after waxing.
Products I enjoy using.
There are a couple of body care products that support my wax routine and are typically recommended by estheticians.
Take the time to figure out which brands work best for you.
Finding the best brands is so important in order to make sure each product does its job.
I like to find clean and all natural products to use when I can.
In fact, one of the dimensions of wellness is environmental wellness.
Using clean, all-natural products that are safe for the environment, and our skin is very important.
Rustic MAKA is one of the brands I love.
Plant and mineral-based ingredients are used in Rustic MAKA bath and body care products.
Rustic MAKA is paraben-free, cruelty-free, baking-soda free, and vegan!
Favorite Body Products for Waxing
Here are my favorite clean, all-natural products to use in my self-care wax routine.
Rustic MAKA Takes Two Mango Deodorant
All natural deodorants like this mango scent by Rustic MAKA provides a delicious scent that lasts throughout the day and does not clog your pores with harmful ingredients.
This is also one of the few deodorants that does not stain my clothes! Amazing, right?
I’ve been using this for over a year now and love that Rustic MAKA has added charcoal to the formula!
I’ve definitely experienced many benefits of having charcoal in my body care products like toothpaste and body wash too.
Rustic MAKA Exfoliate Cleansing Scrub
Ingredients in this scrub include clay, bamboo, and charcoal.
It’s safe and great to use on your entire body including your face!
So gentle and yet super effective.
For so long, I thought I needed a course/rough scrub because so many scrubs were not getting the job done. I was wrong.
This scrub by Rustic MAKA is perfect and so gentle.
The Rustic MAKA cleansing scrub works wonders.
It’s AMAZING and literally one of the best scrubs I have ever used.
Looking forward to using it on my face too!
BTW babes: It’s so important for your skin that your scrub particles not be too small or large.
It can damage and/or irritate your skin if it is the wrong size.
Linked above is the Rustic MAKA Activated Charcoal and Clay soap.
I have the Hop Hop Horray moisturizing pictured above.
Both are great for your body and face.
Here’s the routine I follow based on my wax specialist/esthetician’s advice:
This entire self care routine is done on a regular basis.
It does not matter if I am due for wax or was waxed recently, I still follow this routine.
Daily Wax Self Care Routine
cleanse
Clean your body well with soap and water.
Baths are optional but such a great added bonus!
They are warm and cozy, but also so great for moisturizing and detoxifying your body. My entire body is so soft when I take regular baths.
Use the sauna or steam room!
I love my At Home Sauna because I have the privacy of being at home, the luxury of multitasking (there are armholes!), and the joy of using it ANYTIME I want.
It even includes a chair and bamboo foot massager. All for $100 or less.
moisturize
I like to use all natural body butter, lotions, or oils to moisturize my entire body including areas that have been waxed.
It’s soothing and will result in soft skin which helps prevent in grown hairs.
Every few days
exfoliate with a good scrub
I love my scrub from Rustic MAKA because it’s so gentle, but effective AF.
It reveals new, growing hair as the hair comes in, so I don’t have to worry about ugly ingrown hairs that can occasionally happen as hair grows back.
Monthly (or every few weeks) Wax Self Care Routine
wax
It’s important to keep your wax schedule.
I book with my wax specialist each time before I leave the previous appointment so that I have a plan for my next visit.
This also helps my body and hair growth understand a healthy pattern to follow that matches my wax routine.
Sometimes there may be missed hairs.
It’s recommended by estheticians that you follow up with any needed touch-ups within 5 days for the best results.
This ensures that the hair is all on the same growth schedule.
Many wax centers will do this touch up for free at no cost to the customer.
Be sure to call and check before you arrive.
HOW OFTEN
How often do I get each body part waxed?
This can really vary depending on each individual, but here is the waxing schedule what works well for me:
About every 2 weeks
armpits, legs (guessing based on body)
About every 4-5 weeks
Brazillian, belly strip and inner thighs
Where to Go Get Waxed
Are there specific wax places? How can I wax at home?
I’d say go to a wax professional and place that is specifically for wax hair removal.
Ditch the nail salon.
It’s for nails and in my experience, does not provide great service when it comes to getting anything other than your eyebrows waxed.
I love the European Wax Center for my waxes.
European Wax Center has multiple locations throughout the United States.
I’ve used them many times in different states while traveling and on vacation.
I love how standard the wax service is no matter where I go.
You can book or reschedule at any time without a problem.
European Wax Center is so flexible and convenient!

More tips for your wax visit
Make sure the hair is the correct length. They can give you details on what this should look like.
Ask how to best prepare before your visit.
Relax and link your breathe with the wax. Ask your wax specialist to either tell you when she/he is gonna pull the wax off OR when to breathe in//out.
You basically want to time your inhales and exhales to match when the wax is being pulled off.
When done correctly this will ease some of the pain because your muscles will naturally relax.
Ask your wax specialist how to care for your skin post-wax. For instance, when to moisturize, exfoliate, etc.
They are the experts and may have special tips based on your needs!
